This Weekend: Penguin Plunge, Buffet, Music

A few events taking place this weekend around the county

With the work week nearing its end, check out this list of just a few things you can do around the county this weekend.

  • When/Where - Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Emmett’s Castle, located at 285 Blue Hill, Pearl River.
  • Why Go - To show their appreciation of teachers and administrators, Emmett’s offers a free buffet and special drink prives.
  • Cost - Free for teachers and administrators

  • When/Where - Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the New City Library, located 220 N Main St, New City.
  • Why Go - Celebrate the popular author’s birthday by listening a reading of some of his most popular books, creating Cat in the Hat artwork and even enjoying some goodies.
  • Cost - Free

  • When/Where - Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Nanuet Elks Club, located at Connor Corish Memorial Fund.
  • Why Go - Help raise money for scholarships while enjoying dinner, drinks and dancing, all while having the chance to win numerous prizes, such as Super Bowl tickets with airfare and hotel accommodations in New Orleans.
  • Cost - $60 per person

  • When/Where - Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Nyack Library in the Carnegie Room
  • Why Go - Listen to Baroque specialist who has played all over the world play right in Nyack as part of the Carnegie Room Concerts series.
  • Cost - 25 adult, $20 senior, $15 young adult, $10 student and $5 child

  • When/Where - Sunday at noon at Nyack's Memorial Park
  • Why Go - The event will benefit seventh-grader Alex Fernandez and fourth-grader Francesco Galvano and also to see those brave enough attempt to swim through the cold Hudson River. You can also purchase raffle tickets to win numerous prizes, including a David Letterman VIP ticket package.
  • Cost - Free
