This Weekend: Clothing Drive, Street Fair

A few events taking place this weekend around the county

With the work week nearing its end, check out this list of just a few things you can do around the county this weekend:

  • When/Where: Friday 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Nyack Library Carnegie Room, located at 59 South Broadway, Nyack.
  • Why Go: Check out the latest in the White Light Songwriter Series, with Rockland music instructor Dylan Kelehan and a rotating cast of performers performing covers of the legendary musician.
  • Pricing: Adult: $25, Senior: $20, Young Adult: $15, Student: $10 and Child: $5
  • When/Where: Saturday 9 a.m. at A. MacArthur Barr Middle School, located at 143 Church Street, Nanuet.
  • Why Go: Help Girl Scout Troop 40211 collect gently used clothing, shoes, linens, stuffed animals, bikes and plastic toys.
  • Pricing: Free

  • When/Where: Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Margaret Church, located at 33 North Magnolia Street, Pearl River.
  • Why Go: Donate blood in honor of Bill Kayser, a 16-year-old Pearl River High School student who died April 3, 2003. Kayser gave the gift of life as an organ donor. Note: donors must Must be at least 17 years old, in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and have not donated blood in the last 56 days.
  • Pricing: Free.
  • When/Where: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at South Main Street and Congers Road, New City.
  • Why Go: Check out the New City of Commerce-sponsored fair, featuring rides, arcades, classic cars on display, video games, live music and more than 130 vendors from local businesses. Fair will take place rain or shine.
  • Pricing: Entrance to street fair is free, but will be a nominal fee for rides and arcade games.
  • When/Where: Sunday 11 a.m. at Synergy Salon, located at 112 Maple Avenue, New City.
  • Why Go: Get a haircut with proceeds going to Hi-Tor Animal Shelter. There will also be raffles, makeup, jewelry, food for sale, massages and baths and nail triming for small dogs by Dirty Dawg dog groomer.
  • Pricing: Women’s cuts $20, men’s cuts $10.
