The 9th Annual 9/11 Concert for Remembrance honoring Welles Remy Crowther took place at Grace Episcopal Church in Nyack Sept. 12, 2010.

Welles Crowther was a Nyack native and volunteer firefighter who died on Sept. 11, 2001. He was working as an equities trader on the 104th floor of tower 2 at the World Trade Center when terrorists crashed the second plane into the building. He habitually carried a red bandanna, a habit he picked up from his father, which he held over his mouth and nose to protect himself from the smoke and debris as he helped many injured people get to safety in the South Tower.

His parents formed the Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust in his memory, which helps young people who show exceptional promise through scholarships and special programs. The concert supports their work.
