John Scott Armchair Walking Tour: Nyack's Great Parades

The Historical Society of the Nyacks and The Friends of the Nyacks present the 2011 fall season of The John Scott Armchair Walking Tours in memory of John Scott, who is considered "Rockland County’s great historian."

The series' opening program, Nyack's Great Parades, will be presented by local history librarian, Brian Jennings, at Nyack Library.

"At the turn of the last century when Nyack was the capital of Rockland County and the surrounding areas, parades were major events in the social life of the County. Drawing from the Nyack Library's vast collection of historical photographs, Brian Jennings will take us back in time to when Nyack was host to many great events which were celebrated with grand parades along Main Street and Broadway. These parades marked events like the end of World War I, political campaigns, Fire Company marches, community organizations and the 1909 Hudson- Fulton celebration."

Seating is limited at the Nyack Library and attendees must call the library in advance to register. (358-3370 Ext 214).
