Tappan Zee Bridge Construction: No Traffic Impact Labor Day Weekend

Construction on the New Tappan Zee Bridge will not impact Labor Day weekend traffic, which is already heavy due due to the number of travelers on the roads.

Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC will not do anything that affects traffic through Monday, Sept. 2 in observance of the holiday. That means no road closures until 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 and no impact pile driving until that morning.

One northbound lane and the shoulder near Exit 10 on I-87/I-287 will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. and fro 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. One southbound, right-hand lane and the shoulder will be closed at the foot of the existing bridge and Exit 11 will be closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6.

There will also be increased concrete truck traffic on designated roads in Nyack and South Nyack from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday. 

Dredging will continue 24 hours a day, seven days a week until Oct. 31.
