RCC Students, Rotary Members Team Up to Help Food Pantry

Volunteers gather food donations for People To People at nine local supermarkets.

Students from Rockland Community College and members of the Rotary Club of New City are teaming up to combat hunger in Rockland County.

Teams of students and club members will be at nine Rockland supermarkets on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. collecting food for Nanuet-based People to People, Rockland’s largest food pantry. 

The teams will then deliver the food to People to People between 1 and 2 p.m.

Teams will be at:

  • Shoprite stores in Garnerville, New City, Pearl River, Tallman and West Nyack
  • Stop & Shop stores in New City and West Nyack
  • Decicco’s in New City
  • A&P in Valley Cottage 

People to People provides food packages to nearly 1,200 Rockland households every month.

“We help our struggling neighbors put food on their tables,” said Diane Serratore, People to People Executive Director. “We can’t do this without the incredible efforts of community organizations. We appreciate the work that RCC students and members of the Rotary Club of New City are doing on behalf of People to People.”

Here are a few of the key items that the food pantry needs:

- Pasta sauce

- Tuna fish

- Cereal
