Nyack, Piermont Facing Flood Watch

When the forecast called for heavy rain last week, the Village of Nyack prepared some of the areas most prone to flooding.

"We made some big preparations in three areas that flood most frequently last week and the rain never came," Nyack Mayor Jen Laird-White said. "Hopefully, it will not come this time. It was mostly sandbagging areas where the water seemed to pool. We didn't undo that."

That could help now that the National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Monday in Rockland County and the surrounding area that will remain in effect until midnight.

Among the areas that are of concern are parts of Midland Avenue, which lacks storm drains, Depew Manor and near Nyack Hospital.
