Mourners Come Out to Honor Sparkill Teen

The funeral for 17-year-old Quincy Hedges was held Saturday morning in Nyack

Over 100 family, friends and classmates of Quincy Hedges came out Saturday morning to honor the .

The Sparkill teen died last Saturday in a car accident on the New York State Thruway.

Her funeral was held Saturday morning at in Nyack. Even though the funeral was scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m., the church was already full prior to 10 a.m.

By the time the ceremony began, there were 60-plus standing outside of the church who couldn’t get in.

The church hooked up a speaker outside so those who couldn’t fit inside could listen to the service, which featured multiple readings from the bible and the singing of a few songs, including “Amazing Grace.”

One of the mentions of Hedges during the service came when a speaker talked about her love of photography, and said she was able to find beauty in the mundane. To see some of Hedges photography, you can .
