HBO Pilot Filming in Nyack Today

Crews are filming the pilot of an HBO series at various locations around Nyack today and later this month.

"Lost" writer and producer Damon Lindelof is developing the series based on Tom Perrotta's 2011 novel The Leftovers, in which the people of a small town deal with the aftermath of a Rapture-like event which took people all over the world, including 100 from their community.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lindelof and Perrotta will write the series with Peter Berg as director and executive producer. At this point, HBO has only approved the pilot.

Shooting began early in the day at The Nyack Center and will move on to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. They will be at La Fontana Monday evening until approximately midnight. There will also be filming in Memorial Park July 15 and 16, with a day of set-up the previous week.

According to Nyack Village Clerk Mary White, there will be very little disruption from the shoot. There was some concern during the village board meeting last week about multiple days of the baseball field at Memorial Park being unusable, but White said that that will not be the case.
