Poetry Reading Hosted by Elliott Forrest Featuring Rockland County’s Poet Laureate and Others at Nyack Library

As part of The Year of Edward Hopper celebrations, Elliott Forrest, radio host of WQXR, will be presenting an evening of poetry at the Nyack Library, 58 South Broadway, on Friday, April 29 from 7:00-8:00 pm. The evening will feature Dan Masterson, poet laureate of Rockland County, and poet Gerald McCarthy.  Suzie Devoe, Sakina Jaffrey, Daryl Brownlee and students from Blue Rock School are also reading. They will be celebrating the Edward Hopper Art Center’s 40th anniversary by reading original and previously published poems inspired by Edward Hopper’s paintings. Admission is free.

The Edward Hopper House Art Center is the birthplace and childhood home of    renowned artist Edward Hopper (1882- 1967) and is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a non-profit art center in 2011. The highlight of this year-long celebration will be an exhibition of Hopper’s early work entitled Edward Hopper, Prelude: The Nyack Years, scheduled for May 21-July 17, 2011.
