Solar Boat visits Nyack!

The Ra, a 48' custom built trimaran, will be visiting Nyack on  Wednesday, July 17.  This solar powered boat is circumnavigating the East of the USA by coming up the coast starting at New Port Ritchie, FLA, through the Hudson River to the Erie Canal, across the Great Lakes, down the Missippii River, across the Gulf of Mexico and back around Florida to New Port Ritchie.  Skipper Jim Greer and his crew will travel over 6,000 miles in a solar-powered boat around America’s Great Loop waterway in search of the intriguing, the beautiful, and the bizarre. They’ll explore the unique ecology and the living history on the waterway’s banks and meet the colorful characters that populate its towns and boat-ways.  They’ll be making their way in their custom-made, solar-powered eco-green boat attempting to see if it is truly possible to make such a monumental journey entirely under solar power.
The Ra will be moored at the Nyack Boat Club, 59 Gedney Street.
