SpringFest Packs Nyack Streets

The Nyack SpringFest street fair drew hundreds of vendors and many more out to shop and enjoy the day Sunday along Broadway and Main Street in Nyack.

The event also provided an opportunity for organizations looking to raise money and draw attention to their causes.

The Nyack Soup Angels set up a booth to take donations along South Broadway. Soup Angels serves dinner for those in need 5:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at the First Reformed Church in Nyack. 

"With the street fair, it helps Nyack bring people to town, but it also gives Soup Angels more of a face," said Nyack Village Trustee Marie Lorenzini, a volunteer with Soup Angels. "There are many people who come town, learn about Soup Angels and end up being volunteers or contributors."

Nyack Needs a Skate Park raised $943.13 at the street fair Sunday according to the group's website. The fair was the group's first event since fundraising began April 5. The goal is to bring in $150,000 to build a skate park in Memorial Park. The group's website is www.nyackskatepark.org.

"Our aim is for next summer," said Sarah Anderson. "Every bit counts." 

Volunteers raising money to replace the playground at Valley Cottage Elementary School also found a place at the fair. Their website can be found here.
