Car Fire in Nyack Bank Parking Lot

Volunteer firefighters extinguish blaze across the street from firehouse.

A car parked in the lot of the Provident Bank branch on Route 9W in Nyack was damaged by a fire Thursday night.

Volunteer firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which broke out in a BMW parked just across the street from a fire house the is home to two Nyack Fire Department companies.

No one was injured in the fire, which broke out at about 9:15 p.m. on the east side of the bank's parking lot along Route 9W. The bank branch was not threatened by the fire.

The car's owner said that he had just brought the back from a shop in Spring Valley, where he had $4,000 worth of transmission work done on the car.
