Officials with O&R announced Thursday that they found damage to a gas service pipe at Nyack College that is consistent with being hit by heavy equipment such as a backhoe.
O&R recovered a section of the service pipe as part of its investigation into the powerful explosion inside Nyack College's Sky Island Lodge Tuesday that injured eight people.
Investigators found damage to the gas line, which feeds into the Nyack College gym from a main line on South Highland Drive, Wednesday. Mike Donovan of O&R said that they also found evidence of recent excavation work above the service line.
O&R turned the section of damaged pipe over to investigating authorities.
Nyack College officials have not responded yet to inquiries from Patch regarding any work done on the campus.
