Sam Waymon Sings Motown
The Nyack Library Carnegie Concert Series presents Jazz/Blues recording artist, Sam Waymon, performing music by Motown Legends Richie Havens,Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, Carole King, Stevie Wonder, RayCharles, and others.
Sam Waymon, is the brother of and former musical director for Eunice
Waymon, the given name of the legendary Nina Simone. Sam toured
andrecorded with Nina for over 10 years, performing with her all over
theworld. Sam has worked side by side with legendary artists like
MilesDavis, Donnie Hathaway, Roberta Flack, and Phyllis Hyman. He went
on torecord for RCA, Polygram, and his own label Resolution records. In
the1990s, while working along side American film maker, Jonathan Demme,
Sampartnered with Leronald Walker and wrote “It’s in your eyes” for
thehighly acclaimed movie "Philadelphia."
Mr. Waymon is joined by The Magic Band, and will feature guest artists Phyllis Kee, Barbara Cepeda, Stephanie Vitale, Dylan Kelehan & Richard Quinn.
