Benjamin Moore will paint the town in Nyack this year.
The Montvale, NJ-based paint company announced Monday morning that Nyack is one of the 20 towns selected to receive a free paint job of its downtown as part of its 2013 Main Street Matters.
Nyack Mayor Jen Laird-White spoke with representatives of Benjamin Moore Monday. She said they would be sending more details to Nyack Village Hall later in the day.
“Everybody is so excited,” White said. “Give a huge shout-out of thank you to the community. Everybody threw themselves behind making this happen for the village.”

White was told that Nyack finished well ahead of the four other candidate communities in New York. She added that she expects Nyack to be one of the early projects to get started. The company has already looked into hiring local contractors for the work.
Benjamin Moore posted the list and a statement on its website Monday morning.The introduction of the winners begins, "Congratulations to all of the towns who were a part of Main Street Matters! From the outpouring of excitement, it's clear that each of the main streets on the voting map embodies the spirit of this effort. We've really enjoyed getting to know all the communities, and hope that being a part fo this program reinvigorated excitement for supporting local businesses."
The list of 20 towns was chosen from over 100 contenders from the United States and Canada. The 20 communities chosen are::

- Greeley, Colorado
- Halifax, Nova Scotia
- Hawley, Pennsylvania
- Hilo, Hawaii
- Joplin, Missouri
- Macon, Georgia
- Martinez, California
- Penticton, British Columbia
- Placerville, California
- Sanford, North Carolina
- Sea Bright, New Jersey
- Sheboygan, Wisconsin
- Stouffville, Ontario
- Texarkana, USA
- Westerly, Rhode Island
