The Nyack Public Library was founded in 1879 and has since served the residents of Nyack, Upper Nyack, SouthMore Nyack, Grand View and Valley Cottage.

The library staff assists residents with locating books and information and browsing the collection. If the library does not have a specific book on hand, it can be requested from another library district through the InterLibrary Loan system.

In addition to a periodicals room and children's reading room, the Nyack Public Library offers several book clubs, informational courses on the Internet and reading programs for children and teens. The library also hosts films and concerts several times a month.
