Finding the Best Sledding Hills Around

Bundle up! Prime sledding time is upon us.

There is only one thing to do with this snow upon snow, topped with more snow.

Grab your kids and sleds!

But it's not always easy to find the best hills. Some might be too scary for younger kids, others not nearly heart-pumping enough for older ones. Some are just plain hard to find.

Together we can compile the master list to end all master lists—hills you will want to travel for.

Send your great weather photos to kathleen@patch.com.

There are wonderful sledding hills on the Blue Hill Golf Course, which is town owned property. Years ago, the children could use these hills for sledding, but not any longer. Why??? Can someone from the town answer this question?

Without a doubt the best sledding hill in the area is the big one in the Croton Dam Park. I don't know what the restrictions are these days but years go the hill was crowded with risk taking sledders. It was a natural for wannabe lugers and bobsledders. We used to take our Cub Scout pack there but it was hard to get the kids to remember the Flexible Flyers don't turn well when airborne. Many trips would end with a quick run to the emergency ward at the Hudson Valley Hospital.
