History In Your Own Backyard

  • Where: Casa Del Mare Restaurant in Nyack
  • Saturday, Sept. 21 at 8:45 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m.
  • Cost: $69 per person, $64 for HSRC members
  • Description: Th Historical Society of Rockland continues its day trips with a tour of cemeteries in Orangetown and Clarkstown. Guests will learn the history of each cemetery, including notable people buried there. The tour includes lunch at Casa Del Mare Restaurant. 
Nyack 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
  • Where: Nyack's Memorial Park
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22. Sign-in is at 9 a.m. both days and play begins at 9:30 a.m.
  • Description: Ages 13 to 18 ay Saturday and ages 19 and above play Sunday. For more information, contact Nyack Recreation Director Melody Patrick at (914) 629-9748 or Nyack Village Trustee Louise Parker at (845) 353-0034.

Curiosity Day With Curious George

  • Where: Palisades Center Barnes & Noble in West Nyack
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Description: Bring the little ones to read a Curious George book, participate in fun activities, make a monkey mask and enjoy the treats.
Friends and Family Charity BBQ Festival for the Wounded Warrior Project
  • Where: James H. Andreson Legion Post 1119 at 61 Hunt Road in Orangeburg.
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon to 6 p.m. 
  • Cost: $35 pre-registered and $45 at the door for adults; $25 and $30 at the door for under 21 and kids under 10 get in free
  • Description: The fourth annual barbecue offers food, beverages and live music. There will also be an amateur rib smoking contest. The proceeds from this year's festival will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, which works to enlist the public's aids to provide for the needs of injured service members. Pearl River Auto Show
  • Where: Central Avenue Field in Pearl River
  • When: Sunday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Cost: Registration is $20 per vehicle, but admission to see the cars is free
  • Description: The Rockland Rodders and Pearl River Hook & Ladder Co. present the 2013 Pearl River Auto Show. All money raised goes to local charities.
