Nyack Firefighters Host Pink Fire Truck For Cancer Fundraiser

Volunteers selling t-shirts to raise money to help battle breast cancer.

Members of the Nyack Fire Department are hosting the “Pink Heals Fire Truck” in Nyack on Sunday in support of the fight against breast cancer.

The pink truck, an old fire truck from upstate New York that has been donated to the non-profit Guardians of the Ribbon Northern New Jersey Chapter, travels to promote cancer awareness. The truck arrived at Mazeppa Engine Co. No. 2 at 68 Main St., near the intersection with Broadway, at 1 p.m. today as part of the Nyack Street Fair.

The street fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mazeppa members have been raising money to support the fight against cancer by selling Firefighters For The Cure t-shirts for a donation of $15. The volunteer firefighters sold the shirts during September’s street fair in Nyack and will be selling them again on Sunday.

The idea for the local campaign came from one of Mazeppa's newest members — a woman.

The pink fire truck is designed to raise awareness about breast cancer, and those who visit the truck write messages of hope and support on the truck. Stop by the truck today while you're at the street fair and sign your message of hope. If you can't get there, put a message of hope and support in the comments area for this posting.
