Nyack Prepares for ArtWalk; Festivities Begin this Weekend

Capstone will be Flash Sketch Mob, organized by Bill Batson

Nyack is preparing for a three-day transformation this weekend, when from June 15 to June 17 the village's dowtown becomes an art hub.

Art Walk, in its seventh-year, kicks off Friday. The capstone will be a flash sketch mob on Saturday, when residents and artists gather to document and map the village in their own way. (Read more about the sketch mob .)

"Art Walk creates an enjoyable atmosphere where stores are turned into mini art galleries with the artists in residence," explained Paulette Ross, a local merchant who produces the event. "Stroll up and down the streets of Nyack and view and/or purchase the works by these wonderfully talented artists. Shop in the stores, eat, drink and enjoy the beauty and richness that is the Village of Nyack."

The poster for this year's festival (view it in the adjacent gallery) is a detail of an original oil painting done by South Nyack's Kerri Lee Green. Copies are available for purchase at p. ross on Main Street for $50.

Free parking will be available all day and evening Saturday, June 16 in the municipal lot behind Riverspace.
