The Nyack College women’s cross country team placed three freshmen in the top 10 and ran to victory at the 12th annual Wilmington Invitational at Carousel Park in Wilmington, DE.

The Lady Warriors totaled 47 points, with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rookie-of-the-week Rebecca Wakeley of Glenshaw, PA, taking top-10 individual honors for a second straight week. Nicole Pagan of Carrollton, TX, and Tori Trador of Seminole, FL, also earned individual honors in a field of 86 competitors, representing 11 colleges and universities including four from the CACC.

The 5,000-meter horse ranch course presented the field challenging rolling terrain, descents, and powerful hills that tested even the fastest athletes.

Alethea Davidson of Wilmington University won the meet, taking home the individual title for the Wildcats.

“We got good solid effort from our whole team, especially on such a challenging course,” head coach Latia Deylii said on the Warriors’ website. “Times were slower but getting in this type of race is exactly what we needed to continue improving in our training. I was very pleased with the overall effort.”

Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, with 59 points and Catholic University of Washington, DC, with 72 points, finished second and third, respectively.

Nyack College travels to Philadelphia on Saturday to compete in the Philly Metro 5k Championships at Belmont Plateau. The race is set to begin at 1 p.m.
