Tryouts Set for Boulders Summer High School Showcase Baseball Team

Players to participate in games, tournaments during summer 2013.

The Rockland Boulders are hosting tryouts on Sunday, October 14, for the Boulders Prospect Baseball Club, a high school baseball showcase team for players age 14 to 17.

The tryouts at Provident Bank Park in Pomona will follow a showcase format, where players will be evaluated on defense, hitting, running and pitching.

The Boulders Prospect Baseball Club plans to establish competitive teams for its second season and will play a local schedule during June and July, including travel to college showcase-level tournaments. The goal of the teams will be to provide local ballplayers with an opportunity to play competitive baseball and obtain exposure to college coaches.

The cost to participate in the tryout is $35. Players should arrive at Provident Bank Park at 8 a.m. for graduation years 2014 and 2015 and 10:30 a.m. for graduation years 2016 and 2017.

All players are to enter through the centerfield entrance of the stadium.

To register, e-mail to bouldersprospect@aol.com, with your message including name, high school, graduation year and primary/secondary position.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
