Sports Poll: Who Wins the AL East?

The regular season opens this week for Major League Baseball, here is a look at the American East. Who do you think will win this year’s division crown?

For the first time ever Major League Baseball is putting 10 teams into the playoffs. One winner from each division and two wild card teams from each league will battle it out to crown this year’s World Series Champion.

The last day of last year’s regular season was one of the most memorable of all time as the Braves and Red Sox both had historic collapses and the Cardinals and Rays snuck into the playoffs on the very last day. The St. Louis momentum continued as the team went on to win it all.

The American League East may have three of baseball’s best teams in it, and while this year it is possible that all three could make it into the postseason, the question remains who will win the division crown?

The Yankees offense is another year older but Manager Joe Girardi and the rest of the Bronx Bombers are hoping that the young power hitters can carry the ageing left side of the infield through another season.

One of the biggest problems with New York last year was a lack of quality starting pitching, which the Yankees addressed by bringing back Freddy Garcia and Andy Pettite, signing Hiroki Kuroda and trading for Michael Pineda. Finally the Yankees should have the arms in there behind C.C. Sabathia to compete for another ring.

The playoffs are a long way off but it is never to early to start speculating who wins the American League East.

The DH will be in both leagues before we have a new president. AJ Burnett had to have surgery after a bunt in BP. Pitchers these days can not hit.

I personally like the DH just because I am a Yankees fan and that is what I am used to. But what I prefer even more than the DH is one way or the other is both leagues getting together and having the same rules. I mean, could you imagine in the NBA the Eastern Conference having a 3-pointer and the Western Conference not? Totally stupid, right? That is what we have in baseball now and it will be even worse when they are playing interleague every day next year with two different rules.

@ Mark....that is a bold prediction saying that Obama will be relected. He might be popular her in NY, but everywhere else, not so much....

That is why the DH should go away...:)

@Scott I felt it was more creative then saying "In the next five years"... The MLB bringing the Astros over to the AL is pretty much the beginning of the end of the two separate leagues and the start of two new conferences.
