Rockland Boulders Present 'A Night of Rods'

By Steve Balsan

The Rockland Boulders are inviting all baseball fans who want to support the on-going fight to eliminate PED’s from the game of baseball to A Night of Rods on Thursday, August 8th when the Boulders host the Wichita Wingnuts at 7PM at Provident Bank Park in Pomona, NY. The 647th and 2,527th fans that enter the ballpark will be “thrown onto the Boulders roster” which will include team jerseys and hats, while enjoying the game from the Boulders dugout. Between the end of the game and the post game fireworks extravaganza, both fans will have an opportunity to take their cuts against a Boulders pitcher. If either fan records a base hit in three swings, they will receive a “contract” in the form of season tickets for the 2014 season.

The anti-steroid message is a key component of the evening and thus affordable opportunities to attend will be available.  In particular, any fan that wears suspenders will receive complimentary admission. However, if suspenders are not currently part of one’s dress code, two third base infield box seats will be just $13 or $6.50 each representing a savings of 58%.

“We plan to inject the ballpark with electricity via a capacity crowd in a show of solidarity that America’s Pastime has to be cleaned up once and for all,” said Ken Lehner, President of the Rockland Boulders.

Other highlights will include free parking for any fan who drives a hot rod to the game.  All fans will receive a free pretzel rod upon entering the ballpark, while $2.11 hot dogs will be featured at certain concession stands. Also, for the first time in the history of the ballpark apple and orange juice will be available for sale. Throughout the game fans will be entertained by a wide variety of music including Madonna, Genesis, Juice Newton and Rod Stewart, while lucky fans will win fishing rods.

By attending the game fans will be investing in their future as all fans will receive two ticket vouchers to a Rockland Boulders home game – redeemable during the 2015 season.

This is not the first time the Rockland Boulders have addressed challenging issues with the game of baseball as on Sunday, July 28th they hosted their 2nd Annual Hall of Shame Night. For additional information on A Night of Rods slide to rocklandboulders.com.
