Rockland Athletes Competing in State Swimming Friday, Saturday

One year ago, Nyack Junior Nicole Ciavarella took third in the 100 breaststroke at the state swimming championships. 

She enters this year's New York State Federation Swimming and Diving Championships, set for today and Saturday at Ithaca College, as the top contender for a championship from Rockland County. She won the Section 1 championship and has the top qualifying time at states in the 100 yard breaststroke, 1:04.99. She also qualified in the 200 individual medley. 

Full psych sheets with athletes listed by qualifying time can be found here. The prelims begin 11:15 a.m. Friday with the finals at 10:15 a.m. Saturday. 

Clarkstown junior Meaghan McGovern qualified in four events. She is seeded seventh in the 500 freestyle and will also swim the 200 IM, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Clarkstown's 400 freestyle relay is also seeded seventh.
