PAL group finishes tenth season

Kevin Deegan of Pearl River was the overall champion in the seventh Piermont PAL Junior Invitational at Blue Hill Golf Club in Pearl River on Saturday.

Deegan, punctuating the Piermont program’s tenth season under golf club director Marty Mann—once again assisted by Village Court Clerk Joan Will—fired a 42, and won in a tiebreaker on the second extra hole, with a par on the Woodlands course’s ninth hole.

Glenn Watson, also of Pearl River, matched Deegan’s 42.

The PAL golf program, instituted in 2002 under the leadership of Police Chief Michael O’Shea, opened in June, once again running until the start of the school year.

The club’s membership is comprised of boys and girls ranging in age from 7 to 17, and was conducted with the invaluable help of parents who volunteered in helping to promote the values of safety, bonding, mentoring, and networking.
