Raising money and awareness for the Mental Health Association of Rockland County

May 10, 2012; Valley Cottage, NY: On June 2, 2012 at 8:00am The Mental Health Association of Rockland County (MHA) will host a Wellness Walk & 5K run to raise money and awareness for the organization. We all know someone who has been touched by depression, severe anxiety, or substance abuse. Those lucky enough to be helped by MHA have had their lives positively changed forever. Participation in the 2012 Wellness Walk & 5k Run will ensure that people can continue to be served.

The Walk/Run begins at 8 a.m., with check-in starting at 7:30 a.m. All pre-registered walkers will receive an event t-shirt. Entry fees are $25 per walker, $45 per family and $30 per runner. Children and families are welcome (sorry, park prohibits pets) and an ASL interpreter will be available. For entry forms and further info, please visit www.mharockland.org. The MHA is a not-for-profit community agency whose mission is to provide mental health preventive, supportive, treatment and advocacy services to the community. They have provided innovative services throughout the county for over 60 years, currently serving more than 800 people daily. Having recently opened The Senator Thomas P. Morahan Wellness Center at 140 Route 303 in Valley Cottage, NY the organization continues to provide services with multicultural and multilingual capabilities to engage families in a culturally sensitive manner, respecting their client's varied cultural identities reflecting MHA's commitment to cultural competency.

THE MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF ROCKLAND COUNTY, INC. is a voluntary, non-profit organization. By providing direct service and advocates for legislation and programs, our mission lives in the prevention and treatment of mental illness through community outreach.

The MHA of Rockland County continuously works to improve present services and develop new services that enable our community toward mental wellness.
