College Sports Notebook:

Chargers Continue Charge in Tournament

The Dominican College baseball team, which defeated Caldwell College, 6-5, in the single elimination portion of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championship, takes on second-seeded host Wilmington University today at 3 p.m. at Wilson Field in Wilmington, DE.

The Chargers (26-24) are third-seeded in the tournament, which continues through Saturday

First baseman Andrew Camardella of Pelham had a two-run triple to open a 5-0 lead in the third inning in the win over Caldwell, which rallied to tie in the seventh inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, senior Tyler Sadawske of Waukesha, WI, walked, and Tony Blake of Windsor, CT, was hit by a pitch. The winning run scored when a shot by Camardella was misplayed, giving reliever Matt Festa of Staten Island his third win of the season.

Bonomolo, who is a two-time ECAC academic all-conference selection, was inducted into the Sigma Delta Beta honor society in April, and has been named a team captain for the next football season.
