Machado Goes Unselected

Former Iona College standout Scott Machado went unselected in Thursday night’s NBA Draft.

Machado, a senior last year at Iona, led the nation in assists per game, averaging 9.9, and was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He also set the all-time assists records for Iona, as well as the MAAC Conference.

Still, on Thursday night Machado was not one of the 60 players selected in the two-round NBA Draft. Machado was one of the higher rated players not selected on Thursday, and was actually listed as the best player still available during the last 10 or so picks, according to ESPN analyst Jay Bilas’ big board.

Machado will still have a chance to make an NBA team this summer, as he’ll likely be invited to training camp as an undrafted rookie.
