Scoring was not a problem as the Nyack girls lacrosse team beat up on Clarkstown North 15-2.

Andie O’Sullivan, Taylor O’Sullivan, Kate Fischer, Olivia Binn, Margo Poleway and Taylor Betolacci each scored twice for Nyack in the win.

Ilana Torma and Kayla Carigliano scored once each in the loss.

Highlights: Tanner Morales struck out four in seven innings of work for the win. Michael Rastelli was 1-4 with a double and two RBI in the win.

Game: Nyack vs. North Rockland

Score: North Rockland Won 10-5

Highlights: Alyssa Williams collected five strike outs in seven innings to pick up the win. North Rockland’s Megan Carbia went 2-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run. Michaela Contreras was 2-3 with an RBI and run in the loss for Nyack.

 

Sport: Girls Lacrosse

Game: Tappan Zee vs. North Rockland

Score: North Rockland Won 18-12

 

Sport: Golf

Game: Tappan Zee vs. Pearl River

Score: Tappan Zee Won 200-233

Highlights: The Dutchmen finished in the top five spots at Blue Hill Golf course led by Parker Mann with a 38 and Matt Joseph with a 39. Gary Healy led Pearl River with a 45 and finished in sixth. Tappan Zee remains undefeated at 6-0.

College Sports Notebook:

Camardella keeps his eye on the ball

Junior Andrew Camardella of Pelham continues to lead the Dominican College baseball team in hitting, and his 20 doubles are second-best in all of Division II, trailing only senior Jacob Karr of Wingate (NC) University.

Karr, however, has 23 doubles in 49 games while Camardella achieved his total in just 34 games.

Camardella is batting a hefty .351, and has 24 RBI to share the team lead with Tony Blake of Windsor, CT.

The Chargers, who improved to 15-20 overall and 8-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after a doubleheader sweep of host Caldwell (NJ) College, meet the University of New Haven (15-14-1) today at Vieira Field in West Haven, CT. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.           

The Chargers are scheduled to play at Provident Bank Park in Pomona on Thursday and Friday against Adelphi University z915-16) and Nyack College (15-15), respectively.

Sophomore catcher Jose Rodriquez of Pomona is batting .077 for the Warriors in limited action, while junior Phil Delisle of Quebec leads the club at a healthy .366.

Dominican defeated Caldwell, 11-5, in the opener of their twin-bill, and took the nightcap, 5-2, jumping ahead early on RBI from Greg Gonzalez of Franklin Square and Camardella to support the pitching of Dustin Javins of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

 

Mortarboard musings

  • Dominican College junior Delaney Childers of Johnstown, OH, has been honored as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) softball pitcher of the week for the third time this season. Teammate Julie Plante of Swansea, MA, was named the CACC player of the week. The Chargers (30-14) visit the University of New Haven on Thursday for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m., and then on Friday return home to host Caldwell (NJ) College for a twin-bill set at 3 p.m.
