Nyack Football Takes Early Lead, But Falls To Poughkeepsie At Homecoming Game

Indians dominated first half; Poughkeepsie took control in second half to win 31-21.

Nyack High School football fans were pumped up by halftime Friday night as the Indians took on powerhouse Poughkeepsie at Nyack's homecoming game. But the optimism for a big win faded soon into the second half.

Despite a 21-0 early lead, Nyack fell to Poughkeepsie, 31-21.

The homecoming game at McCalman Field in Nyack saw the stands packed with students, parents and Nyack High School alumni who came out for the annual event — which featured a parade on Midland Avenue and onto the field. Volunteers from the Nyack Fire Department served as a color guard to lead the parade.

Early in the game, the Nyack offense was moving fast and took control of the game. But the Poughkeepsie defense forced several costly mistakes by Nyack in the second half, with the Poughkeepsie offense then taking charge.
