Nyack Schools to Vote On Officially Approving Referendum Results

The Nyack School District's proposed $26.4 million bond referendum passed unofficially Oct. 29 by a margin of less than 100 votes.

The district still had to address approximately 20 challenges to votes, so the board of education had to wait until its next meeting to accept the official results.

The Nyack Public Schools Board of Education will make that vote Tuesday as part of a regularly-scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Hilltop administration building. The full agenda for Tueday's meeting can be found here

The meeting will also include a recognition of the members of Nyack's 2013-14 school board. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo designated the week of Oct. 28 as School Board Recognition Week.

District Clerk Gail Fleur will also be recognized. She received merit awards for the budget newsletter and school calendar at the 2013 New York School Public Relations Assn (NYSPRA) Communications Awards.

Workshop agenda items include:

  • A review of eligibility for extracurricular activities, with Athletic Director Joe Sigillo making a presentation regarding academic performance by student athletes.
  • A review of district goals for curriculum and instruction, fiscal management, district operations, policy development and student achievement.
