The snow started falling early Monday in Rockland County, with local school districts responding by closing early.
The Nyack district notified parents and guardians around 9 a.m. of its decision. All after school and evening activities are cancelled. At 10:30 a.m. Nyack High School will dismiss. At 11 a.m. Nyack Middle School will dismiss and at 11:30 a.m. for Nyack elementaries.
The National Weather Service is calling for a mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet from the morning through 3 p.m. with an accumulation of less than an inch of snow and "little or no ice."
Other Rockland school districts including Clarkstown, Nanuet, South Orangetown and Pearl River have made similar announcements.
