After announcing a two-hour delay Tuesday night, Nyack Public Schools made the decision to close for the entire day Wednesday morning due to the severe weather and poor local road conditions.
Nyack Superintendent of Schools Dr. James Montesano said the decision was made after driving the roads in Nyack this morning. Though the snow stopped falling overnight, there are still icy conditions due to the extreme cold.
The National Weather Service has a wind chill warning in effect until 11 a.m. Wind Chills could be as low as 20 degrees below zero.
South Orangetown, Pearl River, Clarkstown and Nanuet schools are all opening on a two-hour delay Wednesday.
