Students at Nyack Middle School are getting set to put on their 2012 school play, which this year features a production of Hairspray Jr.
Volunteer parents and students have spent the past week getting the stage at the old Nyack High School set for the show.
About the show: Set in 1962 in Baltimore, MD, it's about Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and even bigger dreams — to dance on the Corny Collins television show. Can a larger-than-life teen vanquish the program's reining princess, integrate the show, and find true love?
"Hairspray Jr." is a 70-minute version of the popular musical. The show is adapted to suit teen voices, and edited to fit young audience attention spans. The musical HAIRSPRAY won 8 TONY Awards and is a blast for the entire family!
