Nyack High School, College Look at Partnership

Languages may be offered at Nyack College

students may one day have the ability to graduate with a two-year collegiate degree.

School officials are looking into a partnership with , which would allow high schoolers to take college-level courses.

"It would offer more students the ability to secure college credits," explained James Montesano, Nyack Schools superintendent. "Eventually, we may have the opportunity to have cohorts of students [earn] an associates degree."

In the short term, Montesano, principal Joseph Spero and other officials are seeking to expand the high school's world language offerings to Chinese Mandarin and Arabic, which would be taught at the Nyack College campus.

"The one caveat… is classes would have to be taken at Nyack College," Montesano said. "That could limit certain students."

Still, he noted many seniors have flexibility. "We don’t envision this being a large number of our students," he added.
