Memorial for Nyack Student who Passed from Cancer

"A Night to Remember Jesse" will be held on Monday, December 17 at 4:15 PM at MacCalman Field at the old Nyack High School.

The student body of Nyack High School has organized a memorial “A Night to Remember Jesse” for 16-year-old student Jesse Yanko, who passed away on November 28 after a battle with cancer. It will be held on Monday, December 17 at 4:15 PM at MacCalman Field at the old Nyack High School.

“Jesse Yanko was a beloved classmate at Nyack High School,” says Student Council President Alex Panov. “He was an active member of the class, participating in soccer, tennis, jazz band, and Playing for Purpose, as well as a member of Nyack High School's most famous student-run band, Regret the Hour. Jesse will always be remembered by his classmates, friends, and family, and his vibrant character will live on with all of us.”

The memorial program, which the Yanko family will be attending, will include a song dedicated to Jesse sung by the Advanced Chorus, a selection played by the school’s Jazz Band, and some voiced remembrances. At the end of the program candles, which will be on sale that evening to the audience for a suggested donation of $5.00, will be lit. All proceeds from their sale will be donated to the Making Headway Foundation

A raindate is set for the next evening at the same time.
