[VIDEO] Ho, Ho, Ho! Santa Arrives In Nyack

Downtown tree-lighting ceremony kicks off the holidays.

A holiday party sponsored by local businesses kicked off the 2011 Holiday Season in Nyack on Friday night with singing by local students, a tree-lighting at downtown's Veterans Park and a visit from Santa Claus.

Jolly St. Nick received some help from Nyack volunteer firefighters, who gave him a ride on a vintage firetruck from Highland Hose Co. to the party. Veterans Park was crowded with hundreds of people who came out on a mild December evening to share in the singing by the Lower Hudson Valley Chorus and the Advanced Chorus group of Nyack High School.

As the students sang holiday tunes for the crowd, volunteers decorated the Christmas tree at the gazebo in Veterans Park on Main Street.
