Violation of Trust-When Children are Sexually Abused by Authority Figures

One in three girls and, one in six boys are sexually abused by the age of ten.  In 93% of juvenile sexual assaults the victims know their attacker.  There are an estimated 60 million survivors of childhood sexual abuse in America today.

      The Counseling Honor Society of LIU Hudson at Rockland invites you to attend an informative and timely presentation about this epidemic problem presented by two experts:

 The LIU Hudson center is located at 70 Route 340 in Orangeburg, NY (230 Route 340 Sparkill, NY for GPS).

 Presenters:

      Mary B. Murphy, is assigned to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit where she investigates and assists in the prosecution of crimes against the most vulnerable in our society.  She is an instructor for the International Association of Chiefs of Police on the topic of Juvenile Interview and Interrogation.  She is currently the Director of the Spirit of Rockland Special Victims Center located at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY.

      Karen A. Riley, is a former judge of the Rockland County Court.  She was an Assistant District Attorney and a Supervisor specializing in Special Victims prosecution.  Ms. Riley is also a certified trainer in the Forensic Interviewing Best Practices program of the NYS Child Advocacy Resource Center, and a past instructor at the Rockland County Police Academy.
