HS-to-College Transition for IEP/504 Plan Students

Transition Workshop Series Continues

The first workshop in a series offered through Rockland BOCES, in partnership with the Rockland Transition Consortium, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13th.

At this workshop, titled "High School-To-College Transition for Students with an IEP or 504 Plan", participants will learn how disability legislation affects planning for college, and gain an understanding of the concept of functional limitations, all the documentation required to receive services during college, and the impact of different diplomas.

This and subsequent workshops focused on the transition of special needs students to the world outside of classrooms will be held at the Rockland BOCES Conference Center, Building #10 at 65 Parrott Road in West Nyack. All workshops are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m.

There is no fee for these workshops. To register, please call Dawn Kitz at 845-624-5833 or email her at dkitz@rboces.org.

In offering these monthly workshops, the Rockland BOCES Special Education Division and the Rockland Transition Consortium are working to educate students and their families in preparing for and making transitions; linking families with resources for the transition from school to work and/or post secondary programs; children's services to adult services, and home to the community at large.
