Nyack Schools Host Early Childhood Transitions Meeting

The Nyack Teachers Center, in conjunction with the school district, is hosting one of its periodic countywide early childhood transition meetings at Nyack College’s Shuman Hall on Thursday March 15, from 8 am to 4 pm. The title of this session is 1234, We’re Ready for Math Common Core.

The Program was created by the Center and the school district to better facilitate communication, interaction and comradeship between local kindergarten and pre school teachers. At quarterly meetings participants learn about new techniques, NY Common Core Standards and interact with their peers.

Seven workshops will be given such as Using Games and Literature to Engage Students, Creating a Math Rich Environment and Changing Brains.

Math and the common core will be the keynote presentation by Julia Downey, Assistant Principal of the Otisville Elementary School. Rockland pre schools and county districts participate, as well as Child Care Resources, the Rockland Teacher Center and Nyack College.
