GASLAND : Documentary on Fracking

MUST SEE!

2011 Academy Award nominated documentary

This film is about fracking; the controversial process of extracting natural gas by pumping chemicals and millons of gallons of water into the earth to fracture the layer of shale above the gas.  One concern is that storing, transporting, and treating the toxic liquid wastes from hydro-fracking poses a significant risk to drinking water quality and public health, as well as the use of a tremendous amount of water.
In NYS, there has been a hold on fracking since 2008 until a final review of its environmental impact is complete.

The possibility of fracking in NYS, and here in the Hudson Valley, as early as July, is nearing a reality.
