West Nyack Post Office to Reopen Next Week

Branch has recovered from Hurricane Irene damages

The West Nyack Post Office—which shut its doors temporarily after being slammed by — Monday, Dec. 5, officials said.

Clarkstown residents will no longer have to trek to Nanuet or Bardonia to send or receive items, and the mail center will be operating at pre-flood capacity for the holiday season and beyond.

"The reopening is good news for the West Nyack community," said Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY). "The services provided to the people of West Nyack, and surrounding areas of Clarkstown, are a very important part of the everyday life of its residents."

The Postal Service is currently undergoing a fiscal crisis and considering shuttering post offices throughout the nation to recover, although there are no plans to close offices in Orangetown or Clarkstown.
