Nyack's new leader talks Streetscape, green infrastructure

Jen Laird-White has been Nyack's mayor for nine days now, but her first major legislative session won't be held until this coming Thursday.

Laird-White—a Democrat who in November's elections—outlined a handful of initiatives she plans to tackle come Thursday, and beyond.

"We're going to discuss [each trustees'] expertise, and what they'll be active in," she noted.

Streetscape corrections are also on her list, specifically fixing the newly-installed planters that can make driving and walking Main Street difficult.

"We'll try to make them more passable, and easier to park next to," she said. Laird-White noted the fix, which was , will be done gratis, and completed in the spring.

Other issues include promoting green construction throughout the village, completing Memorial Park renovations in time for Little League, and hammering out an emergency management plan. Laird-White said introducing a Red Cross shelter to Nyack is a possibility.
