Tappan Zee Bridge Presentation At Town Board

Special advisor brings open forum on bridge project to the Clarktown town board workshop tonight.

Brian Conybeare, special advisor to Gov. Andrew Cuomo on the new Tappan Zee Bridge project, will deliver a presentation at Tuesday night’s Clarkstown Town Board Workshop.  Conybeare will provide an update on the project.   He and members of the construction team held a public meeting at Nyack High School last week.

At that session, Conybeare said no specific dates were set yet, but test borings in the river are expected in March as well as the creation of staging areas. He explained they want to get the test pilings installed around June and start dredging in August. Conybeare said they hope to open the first span of the new bridge in 2016 and shift traffic onto that while the second span is being completed over the following two years.

The workshop meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight and includes other agenda items.

Deputy Town Attorney Jeff Millman will introduce a new fine and penalty structure for a number of Town Code violations and also give an update on double utility poles. Police Chief Michael Sullivan will give the monthly police report.
