South Nyack Leaders to Keep Watch on TZ Construction

Village forms task-force to communicate with state, residents.

A triumvirate of South Nyack officials will serve as the village's mouthpiece during the coming construction of a new Tappan Zee Bridge, local politicians told Patch.

"The three-member task force will monitor, communicate, negotiate, and mitigate the effects of the Tappan Zee Bridge project as it relates to the health, safety, and well-being of the citizens of the Village South Nyack," said mayor Patricia DuBow in a press release.

The panel will consist of former Rockland County Legislator Connie Coker, Chairman of the South Nyack Planning Board Jerry Ilowite and Richard Kohlhausen, who represented South Nyack on the TZB design selection committee.

Mayor DuBow, who is not seeking re-election this spring, will not join the three.

Officials said the panel will tackle a range of duties, like representing property owners—who are already livid—and monitor any and all construction impacts.
