Rockland Releases Thanksgiving Holiday Mass Transit Schedule

Bus, train and ferry schedule information for Wednesday, Nov. 21 through Friday, Nov. 23


The Rockland County Department of Public Transportation released public transportation schedules for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday for Transport of Rockland (TOR), TAPPAN ZEExpress (TZx) and TRIPS buses and other transit systems. Rocklands’ public transportation web site provides schedules for TOR, TAPPAN ZEExpress and links to other transit systems

NJ Transit sustained significant damage to its rail lines during Hurricane Sandy and currently is offering limited train service is limited on the Pascack Valley and the Main/Bergen/Port Jervis Lines serving Rockland County. Wednesday, November 21: 

  • TOR, TZx, TRIPS paratransit, Spring Valley Jitney and Clarkstown Mini-Trans buses will operate normal weekday service. Extra TZx buses will operate from Tarrytown Rail Station according to normal afternoon schedules in anticipation of early getaway passengers using Metro-North trains.
  • Metro-North Hudson Line trains will provide early getaway service. For information go to www.mta.info.
  • Coach USA Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan Lines) will offer earlier Rockland-bound express buses from Port Authority bus terminal. Express Route #45 begins service at 1:30 p.m., Route #47 at 2:15 p.m. and Route #49 at 2 p.m.
  • Coach USA Express buses from the Exit 14 Park & Ride lot will operate on a modified schedule in the morning and afternoon. Early getaway afternoon buses from Manhattan will be added at 2:30 pm and 3 p.m. from 56th St. & 5th Ave. and at 2:30 p.m. from Wall Street.   • The Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will operate an early rush hour connection from the Hudson Line train departing Grand Central Terminal for Ossining at 2:54 pm. 

Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 22nd: 

  • TOR buses will operate on a Sunday schedule with no service on TOR #94, #95 and #97 and no TOR #91 service to New City, Yeager Health Center or Helen Hayes Hospital.
  • TZx, Coach USA Express from Exit 14 Park & Ride lot, Clarkstown Mini-Trans, Spring Valley Jitney and the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will not operate.
  • TRIPS paratransit buses will operate A.D.A. service only.
  • Coach USA‘s Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan) buses and Coach USA’s Shortline buses will run on Sunday schedules.

  • Metro-North Hudson Line trains will operate a Sunday schedule with special morning service to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Friday, November 23rd: 

  • TOR, TZx, Clarkstown Mini-Trans and Spring Valley Jitney will operate normal weekday service.
  • TRIPS paratransit buses will operate A.D.A. service only.
  • Coach USA’s Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan) buses will operate modified Saturday service on local routes and fewer trips than normal on express routes. Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan) express Route #49 buses will not pick up on Route 59 at the Nanuet Mall or at Exit 14 Park & Ride lot. Passengers using those routes can get combined #49 and #47 service at the Smith Street Park & Ride lot or the South Middletown Road Park & Ride lot. Express Route #45 will operate from Mt. Ivy at 5:15 a.m., then again approximately every 30 minutes until 9 a.m. Go to www.coachusa.com or call (201) 263-1254 for more information.
