Rockland's Jobson Cuts Salary By 5-Percent

Voluntary wage cut an effort to fix Rockland finances

In an effort to combat Rockland's , county legislator Douglas Jobson announced Tuesday he will take a voluntary five-percent cut to his salary.

His annual pay will drop from $32,587 to $30,957.65.

Jobson's decision comes on the heels of county executive . Vanderhoef, who is battling the $21.1 million gap, reduced his $155,087 salary by $7,754.

Jobson noted the money saved may be minor, but his is a symbolic action.

"I realize that the cut is minor in the face of our deficit, but I agree with [Vanderhoef] that we all must do our part to recognize and support the personal and financial sacrifices that the people of our county are facing," he said.
