$14 is unbelievable! I think I heard, or read somewhere that it would have gone up to $12 anyway. Not much of a break for commuters...

It will kill the Palisades Mall and local businesses. The new Ridge Hill complex will LOVE the toll hike as it drives all that business their way

With the George Washington bridge at $12, it was no surprise to me. The sad part about it is the traffic on the bridge will be the same, we just won't be driving on a rusty hulk. Will we get a cup of coffee and a donut for the $14?

They never talk about costs, inflated budgets, outrageous salaries, pensions, benefit packages of the NYS THRUWAY AUTHORITY and PORT AUTHORITY. That is where our money reallly is going. This $14.00 toll will be a disaster for people in Rockland and Westchester. BUT a bag of candy for NYS THRUWAY employees. NYS is DOOMED.

Right on the money watchdog!

Watch what is your blood pressure?
Chuck Borgman August 04, 2012 at 04:17 PM
They talk about $14 being a better deal than the other crossings like that is supposed to make us fell better. It's ridiculous. As soon as you leave this area tolls are no more than $3-$5 and south and west of Washington, you don't see any or very minimal tolls on bridges. The toll on the huge Sunshine Bridge across Tampa Bay in Florida is $1. How do they make do?
Watchdog August 04, 2012 at 04:23 PM
To have blood pressure, you need blood but my government at all levels is bleeding me dry. CUOMO giveth and VANDERHOEF/ REDA taketh away. Whwn does a 2 % tax cap turn into a 30% ++++ tax increase? When you move to Rockland.
Watchdog August 04, 2012 at 04:38 PM
Unions are not stealing from them in Florida which is a RIGHT TO WORK State. The TOLL is the bouncing ball they want you to keep your eye on. The real SWINDLE is with the salaries, pensions and benefits of the NYS THRUWAY AUTHORITY. The toll is just more candy and will negate the effects if any 2% cap, which we did not get anyway. Can y 'all get the drift NOW. We are being robbed blind at every level. WE ARE DOOMED.
JLeo August 04, 2012 at 05:11 PM
I usually don't agree with Watchdog but he is SO right on every level.
mike sullivan August 04, 2012 at 05:25 PM
here we go bashing the unions again.I could care less if its $5 or $15 and if your a commter its only $8 The money needs to come out of somewhere if you increase tax for bridge than everyone pays, let the people that use it pay
Pat August 04, 2012 at 05:40 PM
You're blind Mike, watch the housing prices in Rockland and Orange County go further into the toilet because of the skyrocketing commuting costs into the City and Westchester. You must live east of the Hudson river.
Watchdog August 04, 2012 at 05:52 PM
That is how they play the game. Try to distract you by comparing their latest scheme to rob you blind with a similar but worse scheme to rob other people blind. We are supposed to feel good about the Clarkstown cops costing us $200,000/year, a copy with 81 days off, to Nassau or Suffolk County where it is costing them more. Or course they left out that Nassau is under the control of NYS primarily due to outrageous salaries and pensions of police. Police pensions on average were $87,000 about $50,000 hogher than the average worker, with free family medical for life and if you retire at 50 you have a long life ahead. WE ARE DOOMED!
mike sullivan August 04, 2012 at 06:48 PM
my thought is that it is what it is.We need a new bridge where should we get the money from watchdog is just so jealous of the police,i thank the police not bash them before you say i work with them,i work constuction in a union and have been out of work for 11 months, i live in new city i have no complaits ,what anyone makes as a salary
Watchdog August 04, 2012 at 07:23 PM
Mike, I am not jealous of anyone, never have been. Envy is one of the deadly sins and I will not succumb. BUT so is Greed and selfishness is right up there. The cops are greedy and selfish. Seniors cannot afford these lavish salaries and outrageous benefits which they are getting at the expense of Seniors who built this Town with their taxes. They are being stepped on. Cops consume 25-30% of theTown Budget for maybe a few hundred people. Gromack knows it and says if they cannot afford it, they should take on boarders. It is a shame but just do not care. Therewsd an elderly woman in my neighborhood who had a blue tarp on her roof because she did not have money to fix it while a few doors down a vop was putting on a $150,000 addition with twonewcars in his driveway.

MIKE make sure you vote for union supported Obama. Last time around he promised all those shovel ready jobs in his Trillion dollar STIMULUS PLAN but did not give it to Cuomo for the TAP. In fact, only 6% of that money went to infrastructure....6% MIKE..did you hear that? He and Immelt koed anout it afterwoods but it wasn't really that funny, was it Mike.? Rest of the money went to your favorite public employee union friends and to overseas manufacturers of GREEN STUFF. OH and that pesky SOLYNDRA company which took $600,000,000. Nothing for Mike though. Now he is back wanting to increase taxes for guess what...infrastructure. AND your union boys will back him. WE ARE DOOMED.
mike sullivan August 04, 2012 at 08:06 PM
obama is a lot better than the alternative,we are trying to recover what bush put us in it took clinton his 2nd term to change what bush senior did obama's second term will start to change the economy
John Taggart August 04, 2012 at 08:13 PM
Mike is right, the commuters use the bridge the most and get the best price. A toll hike in the next 5 years even with nothing being done would not be a suprise. The commuters will be ok, but the mall and resturants on both sides will feel or see a differance. I don't think the tolls will kill Rockland, Rockland is doing a fine job of killing its self all on its own.
John Taggart August 04, 2012 at 08:35 PM
Mike is now wrong, Obama is a trade union buster. Clinton's economy was based on Made in china for the corporations and then trickle down. Clinton's economy worked great, but you can only ship all your factories to China once. Obama is an absolute failure, he may get alot of municipal union votes but he is getting no trade union votes. The guys that will not vote for republicans are going to sit this one out
Watchdog August 04, 2012 at 08:39 PM
Mike, It took the second ter Republican Congress to your Clinton to the center. His first term was a disaster ( Hillarycare?) and if the Republicans did not come in when they did his second term would have been worse. But I give him a lot of credit for changing his direction and it changed his Legacy. Obama never changed and he will destroy the country. Next week (8/10) a movie By Dinesh d'Souza will be out and I hope people will go.
Pat August 04, 2012 at 10:01 PM
obama played golf today Mike. He hasn't met with his "Job Council" in 7 months. How much does this guy have to lie to you before you wake up?
